A brief introduction of

Ndi Igbo Cologne e.V.

The history of the name Ndi Igbo Cologne e.V. is born out of a series of structural difficult advancement of first, being known as 'Obi Nwanne Cologne e.V. structured to Igbo Union Cologne e.V. and Nzuko Ndi Igbo Cologne e.V. respectively, before this latest advancement to Ndi Igbo Cologne e.V.

​The founders of this name that keeps on evolving are the Igbos residing in the metropltan city of Cologne and its environs in NRW Germany. They are oringinally people from the South Eastern part of Nigeria comprising Abia, Anambara, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo State as well as parts of the Delta, Akwa Ibom and Rivers states, united by a common Language with different dialects.

Importantly, some of the major aims and objectives of the Ndi Igbo Cologne e.v. are to protect and promote the Igbo indigenous rich Arts, Culture and Tradition in an objective manner, both in Igbo land as well to properly integrate ourselves in the culture and life of our immediate environment – Cologne and Germany at large.

​In the light if this aims, we resolved to organise this all important Igbo tradition – New Yam Festival (Iwa Ji), which is an annual event to offer thanks to the God of Yam (Ufiejioku) for the gift of Yam and the successful planting season, while we also pray for a high yield harvesting season.
